Chapter VI: the strange guy

I just arrived at woods and I saw my first chicken. I ran to it, gave it a few hits and the chicken was dead. I pulled a feather out of the dead animal and putted in my bag. Before I could close my bag again, there was another chicken a few meters separated from me. There were pretty much chickens in the woods. When I had killed 3 chickens, a strange guy came to me. He was wearing almost the same clothes as me. “Hey, why do you kill those poor animals?!”, he asked. I showed him the feathers that I had found in the dead chickens and told him about the feather hat.

Then he asked for my name. But I was not going to tell my name before He told me his name. His name was James Lombardi. He was from Belgium, just like me. I told my name to him too and I explained how I came here. When I was telling the story, James looked very weird. I asked what was wrong and so he started to tell his adventure. He told me that he came here at the same day as me. He couldn’t go to school that day, because he was very ill. When it was almost dark outside, he fell asleep, but he never woke up. So he must fell in some kind of coma I thought. But I didn’t wake up neither. Am I in coma too then? What about this world then? Did I never meet Melissa then? I liked her so much, and she is not even real. Maybe I could ask it her first before I go think wrong things. I couldn’t concentrate myself on the chickens anymore, so I stopped hunting the and started searching Melissa.

Chapter V: Time for breakfast

The next day I woke up very early, but the roof where we have slept on was so hard that I had a bit pain in my back. Melissa was still sleeping. I didn’t want to wake her. So I went downstairs the building. But I was not going to leave her. No, I went to the water mill where Melissa bought the breads and this time, I bought two breads with my gold that I had collected yesterday in the rat cave. I wanted to buy two hams too, but I didn’t have enough money to pay it. Afterwards I ran back to the roof of the library before Melissa woke up. But I had luck, she was still sleeping. I pushed her a bit against her shoulder and Melissa woke up. “Time for breakfast”, I said. “Oh, that’s so sweet of you Thomas, I don’t know what to say, uhm, thanks”, she said. “You don’t have to say anything”, I replied, “just eat”. We enjoyed the romantic breakfast and we went downstairs again.

Melissa took me down to the basement and we came in big room with many corridors. All those corridors went to a room. One of the rooms was a big sleeping hall. A woman was walking around in it. “That’s Amber”, Melissa said, “she can give you a feather hat”. “Just for free?”, I asked. “No, not for free, you need a legion helmet, one hundred chicken feathers and 50 honey combs for it”, replied Melissa. Then I asked where I could find those things and she explained it all. So I knew what I was going to do that day. I went outside the basement and the library in the direction of the woods, which was situated near the city, to hunt some chickens. In the meantime, Melissa was going to kill some stronger animals.

Chapter IV: The adventure goes on

“I’m exhausted Melissa”, I said. “Oh, I understand it Thomas”, replied Melissa. We left the cave, but we didn’t take the same way as we came in here. At the exit we took, there were a lot of trees. When I looked around, I also saw a few rabbits and deer’s. What was it beautiful out here. The woods where we were were about 500 meters from the village entrance. We went back to the village and we searched for a place to rest. In the meantime it was already ten o’clock in the evening. We went sit down on the roof of the library. But before we were at the roof, we passed a statue on the first floor of the building. The statue looked a bit like an angel. It also had wings and a perfect body. “The Oracle”, was written on it. I asked myself why the placed a statue inside a building, but I kept that question for myself. “You have done it well down in the rat cave”, Melissa started. I felt how the blood reached my head. “Uhm, Thanks”, I said. “I mean it Thomas”, Melissa reacted, “you are pretty good for a beginner. Most of the people can’t even kill three rats their first time, and you killed seven.”

Melissa was such a wonderful girl. I didn’t know why she helped me, but I liked her very much. After the cosy conversation, we were both so tired that we went lie down under the open sky and we fell asleep right away.

Chapter III: The girl with the blond hairs

About four hours later I woke up again. I was still lying in the grass, but I was not alone. A girl with blond hairs was sitting next to me. Hello stranger, she said. So I replied with the same word as she greeted me. Then she threw pants to me, made of brown leather. She said I had to put them on. I thanked her and asked her name. I liked her name. She was called Melissa. After this short presentation of me and her we went to the river. There at the river was a beautiful mill with a guy in front of it. Melissa went to that guy and bought two breads. Oh, I was starving, so I ate the whole bread in less then five minutes.

Then I asked where she found the gold coins the breads were paid with. She said she had looted it out of dead rats. Eeeew…, dead rats!?! So she first had to kill a rat and after that, you had to put your hands into the dead animal to see if it there was some money inside. It seems that you had to kill animals to survive here. Because when you didn’t do anything, you didn’t get money to buy food. That’s probably the meaning of the club that I had with me when I came here. When Melissa was done eating her bread, she said that she wanted me to teach how I hunt rats. I didn’t know that the people in this village were so helpfully. I had to follow here back to the village, and in the middle of the village was a sewer grate in front of a water well. Melissa lifted the sewer grate and climbed down into the sewer. Or let’s say that I thought it was a sewer, because when I was down too, I saw that it was a kind of dark dungeon full with people who were slaying rats. Why don’t those people search a job? I could see the smile on Melissa her face. I think you are the funniest at, she replied. When I wanted to ask what was so funny, Melissa had found her first rat. Come on Thomas, she yelled, kill it! Just hit with your club on it as hard as you can. After that dead rat, we killed six more.

Chapter II: The beginning…

I woke up, but I was not in hospital, and the strangest of all was that I had no pain. I looked at myself, none of my legs were broken, I still had my both arms, but I was wearing a strange brown jacket, a small bag on my back, a club in my left hand and a torch in my right one. I looked in the bag and I found one apple. I looked around and I noticed that I was in a temple. There were three coal basins, four white pillars, a few other people and one strange guy that was dressed like a monk. ‘Hi’, I said to him. Then he greeted me whit my own name and said that I could ask him for help anytime. Huh?!? How did he know my name? That’s also what I asked him. But on that question he answered that his name was Cipfried. Why didn’t he gave an answer on my question. He acted like someone who is controlled by a computer, someone who only can give pre-programmed answers on your questions. I didn’t want to stay with that strange guy, so I ran out of the temple. In front of me there was a small village with about ten people. I decided to look around a bit.

After a few hours I went sit down into a grass field. I couldn’t find my parents anywhere. Three or four meters from me I saw a bush with blueberries on it. I took 5 blueberries and ate them. They were very tasty in comparison to the blueberries that you can find in our town. Then another question came up in me. Why haven’t I seen any car yet? But I was too tired to find an answer on that question. So I went lie down in the grass field and fell asleep.

Chapter I: The end?

It was Friday October the 6th. My alarm clock woke me up. It was six o’clock in the morning. I went downstairs to have breakfast. And at 7.30 AM, Jack, one of my friends stopped his car in front of my house and pressed his horn. It’s time to go to school yelled my mother. I took my jacket, went outside and stepped inside the car. On our way to school we were discussing what we were going to do after school. After the short discussion we decided to do what we usually do on Friday, drinking something in the locally bar close to school. Jack parked his car aside the road and we went into the direction of the school. ‘Ring, ring’ said the school bell and the first lesson started.

At 3.30 PM the finishing school bell rang again. Me, Jack and a few other friends went to the bar, that was situated five hundred meters from our school. All my friends ordered a beer, but I took a coke. After two hours, we decided to go home. Jack had drunk at least four martinis and six beers, but he still wanted to drive the car. And then there was Oliver, another friend of me and Jack, who was going to spend the night at Jack’s home. So he drove whit us in the car. When we were half our way home, Jack suddenly felt sick and he had to puke. He stopped his car in the middle of train rails and ran into the direction of the bushes. When Jack had spat out his last puke, he fell down in the grass. Oliver threw open his car door and ran to Jack to help him.

I was still sitting in the car and yelled that the car was parked on the train rails. And on that very moment, a train drove in my direction. I didn’t have had time to get out of the car and the train drove against me and the car. And then, there was that big white tunnel…
